This policy covers two things: this website, and the BibleRoutine app for iOS. Where something applies to only one of the two, it says so explicitly.

The BibleRoutine app

No account, no login. The app does not ask you to create an account or sign in. We do not operate a server that stores your reading activity. The one feature that talks to our server is Ask, described below.

Everything stays on your device. Reading progress, streaks, highlights, and journal entries are stored only in a local database on your device. None of it is uploaded anywhere.

Journal entries are encrypted. Journal content is encrypted at rest with AES-256. The encryption key is generated on your device and stored in the iOS Keychain (via expo-secure-store) — it never leaves the device, which means we have no way to read what you write.

Bible text is bundled with the app. Scripture is the World English Bible (WEB), a public-domain translation from ebible.org, bundled into the app itself. Reading the Bible in the app does not require a network connection or send any request to us.

Ask (AI reflections) and OpenAI. Ask is optional and only runs when you type a question and tap Ask. Before your first question the app asks your permission to send it. Your question, the kind you chose (a passage, a dream, or your life) and your device language are sent to our server at bibleroutine.com, which passes the question to OpenAI, a third-party AI provider, to write the reflection. We do not store your question or the answer, and we do not log them. OpenAI processes the text under its API terms, which do not use API data to train its models; it may keep it for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring. To count your three free reflections a month, our server keeps only the anonymous RevenueCat identifier described below, the month, and a number. Please do not include names or other personal details in a question. You can withdraw permission any time in Settings.

Subscriptions (RevenueCat). The optional BibleRoutine+ subscription is processed by RevenueCat, which sees an anonymous device/purchase identifier and your subscription status. RevenueCat never receives your journal entries or reading data — the app has no way to send that to it.

Ads (Google AdMob). Free-tier use of the app shows ads served by Google AdMob; subscribing to BibleRoutine+ removes ads entirely. AdMob uses standard mobile advertising identifiers, and only with your permission — see App Tracking Transparency below. AdMob never receives your journal entries or reading data.

App Tracking Transparency. On iOS, the app asks for tracking permission before any ad loads. If you decline, the app works exactly the same — ads simply won’t be personalized.

Deleting your data. Settings → Delete my data permanently erases your journal, highlights, and reading progress on your device. Deleting the app itself also removes everything on the device. The only thing on our server is the anonymous monthly Ask counter, which holds no content and is not linked to you.

Children. The app is not directed at children under 13, and it has no mechanism to collect personal information from anyone, of any age.

This website

Analytics. We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand which pages are useful. GA4 is loaded behind a consent banner for visitors in the EEA and UK, and does not run until consent is given.

Advertising. We may display ads served by Google AdSense to support free access to this content. AdSense may use cookies to serve relevant ads; you can opt out of personalized advertising through your Google account settings.

Email list. If you join our waitlist, we store your email address to notify you when the app ships. We do not sell or share this list.
