Your First 7 Days in the Bible
Most people who quit reading the Bible quit in the first week, usually because they started somewhere that assumes a lot of background. This plan picks seven readings that each make sense on their own, in an order that builds: Jesus first, through John's Gospel, then the opening of the whole story in Genesis, a psalm to pray, and a short letter about everyday life. Each day is one chapter or less, about ten minutes.
How to follow this plan
- 1.Read at the same point in your day all week, attached to something you already do — coffee, the commute, before bed.
- 2.After each reading, write one sentence: something that stood out, or a question. Questions are a good sign, not a problem.
- 3.If you miss a day, read that day's passage next time and keep going. There is nothing to catch up on.
- 4.After day 7, finish John (about three weeks at a chapter a day) or move on to The Gospels in 30 Days.
